Marcia Uhl: Yin Yoga Teacher Training (20 Hours)

Marcia Uhl has been practicing yoga for over four decades on her own and with a variety of teachers. Yoga has been with her for the majority of her life. Marcia met Amy in 2011 and began to study with her consistently in 2012, taking classes and then attending Intensives and Immersions to deepen her practice. She completed her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2014 and in 2017 her 300hr YTT with Amy at Threads of Yoga. Marcia has also had extended studies with Master teacher Tias Little of Prajna Yoga.

Marcia decided to deepen and extend her studies in Yin Yoga and has completed several pieces of training, including Biff Mithoefer's Yin Yoga Teacher Training. She has been leading Yin classes for several years. Her passion for Yin yoga is to bring this practice to the community and to help spread the love, light, and happiness yoga brings to life.

Yin Yoga is a non-flow class using stillness to strengthen, lengthen, and hydrate our deep connective tissues in order to keep our bodies flexible and mobile. The longer, passively held floor poses are practiced with an attitude of compassionate acceptance that balances the flow of energy and improves our physical, emotional and spiritual health.

In this training participants will learn how promoting the flow of energy through the energy channels or meridians of our deep Yin core can help bring health to our bodies and balance to our busy Yang lifestyle. You will also learn the theory and practice of Yin Yoga while gaining a basic understanding of the Chinese meridian system and its relationship to the practice. We will see how our basic anatomical differences can affect our yoga postures, helping to increase this sense of self-acceptance. The training will include a series of four Yin yoga classes and you will receive copies of the sequences taught.

You will become proficient in the following sequences:

  • Kidneys and Urinary Bladder Meridians

  • Liver and Gallbladder Meridians

  • Spleen and Stomach Meridians

  • Lung, Heart, and Intestines Meridians

Shellie Sakash: Anatomy

Shellie has been a practicing physical therapist in the outpatient orthopedic setting for over 18 years. She received her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Springfield College in 2000. Aside from treating patients, Shellie is also a certified clinical instructor to physical therapy students in the clinical setting as part of their required education to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Shellie completed her comprehensive Pilates teacher training in 2002 through PhiPilates. Following her training, she went on to join PhiPilates as a traveling instructor conducting Pilates teacher training to fitness and health care professionals throughout the country and is now a PMA®-Certified Pilates Teacher.

She is the founder of Sakash Health and Wellness, a Pilates and Physical Therapy studio, located in the center of North Conway, NH. Shellie met Amy two years ago when she began taking classes at the Threads of Yoga Studio and eventually participated in two of Amy’s intensives, “The Yamas and Niyamas” and “The Empath’s Matrix”. These intensives stimulated a new level of self-awareness and understanding, forged a very clear path of purpose, and nurtured the courage for change. For these influences, Shellie is deeply grateful. It is with great pleasure that Shellie brings her expertise in anatomy and movement education back to the Threads of Yoga Studio to join Amy and the Sangha for “Warriors of light”.
